SCIENCE IN SERVICE OF MAN

This is an age of science and technology. Progress in science has made our lives quite easy and comfortable. It has conquered time and space. Hundred of inventions have been made in every sphere of life in last two-three centuries. It has shortened distances. In the past, traveling was done on foot, horse back, camels, carts etc. Now, man can get from one corner of the world to the other within few hours. There are rocket planes that travel at the speed of 1000-1500 kilometers per hour. They travel faster than sound.

          Science has also done wonders in the world of medicine. If we had not controlled fatal diseases like plague, Typhoid, Diphtheria, Polio, Tetanus, Smallpox and Whooping Cough etc. infantile paralysis would have continued to claim a heavy toll. Science has helped to discover the causes and taken effective measures to prevent the epidemics.

          Superstitious beliefs in evil spirits as the cause of many diseases have been eradicated by the scientific approach. Treatment by X-rays and Radium is in vogue now-a-days. Surgical operations have become routine matter.

          Electricity is rendering great services to man. He has pressed it into service in all walks of life. Darkness of our homes and streets has been dispelled. The hardships of housewife have been minimized to a great extent. Heavy machines and industries are running on it.

          On the other hand, Radio, Television, Internet, Movie Camera and Computers etc have made our life more interesting than in the past. They keep us well informed about world affairs. They play a vital role in disseminating knowledge.

          Powerful telescopes have rendered useful services in collecting data regarding the moon and other planets round the earth. Man has since reached the Moon. It has provided him foothold for further exploration in space.

          In brief, science has brought about marvelous changes in the various facets of human life and showered us with its blessings which were beyond our imagination some years ago.

But he is fair and passionate. He guides staff and students, as competently. The teachers of our literary are with efficient and strict.
